Update November 3

Hello everyone-

Don't forget, November 13th is the due date for all fund drive payments. Please remember that if you write a check, it should be payable to Northview Middle School.

We are in full swing preparing for our Holiday Show which will be held on December 18th at 7:30 pm in the Northview auditorium. At this point, we are looking for the following costumes:

Snowman costume (For Frosty the snowman)
Santa Suit
Christmas Tree Costume (Yes, an actual costume a person could wear:)

and the following props:

Large Menorrah
Kwanzaa Candles
Small Tabletop size Christmas Tree

We will have student committees for the production. Please let me know if you can loan us any of the above. We also can always use any extra Christmas lights you can donate - clear no colored lights.

On another note :) I have received a few requests for further information about ShowChoir Camps of America. It is not too early to start planning ahead, however, the actual registration form won't come out until late winter or early spring. I plan to go to the Heidelberg College camp. It is usually held the second week in July. Here is a link to their site if you would like to see what it is all about. http://showchoircamps.com/pages2007/page3.html
If parents would like to form a group to attempt fundraising to help offset the cost of the camp, I will help you organize and offer ideas. It would be up to the parent group to actually execute the fundraising efforts. Let me know by email by Thanksgiving holiday if you would like to be a part of this group. We'll meet, and maybe get something in place before the Holiday Concert to see if you can raise a little money for camp. We are open to ideas. I'd like to see more kids be able to attend. Last summer, 7th graders, Alex Mohr and Kristen Mack attended, and a year ago, Abigail Klingsmith attended. If you know these girls, I am sure they will tell you about their experience. Other former Northview students who have attended in the last few years include Emily Mannheimer, Dena Weiss, Hannah Wiskerchen, Allison Hunt, and Quinn Barney. (Quinn and Allison are now Counterpoints at North Central.)

Enjoy the beautiful weather!

Sharing the good news

I recently received notice that I was awarded a professional development grant from the Washington Township Schools Foundation which will help send FIVE secondary choral directors (3 middle and 2 H.S.) to ShowChoir Camps of America for a week-long workshop next summer. I have been to this wonderful camp in the past, and can honestly say, that there is nothing I have ever done that has had a more positive impact on my teaching. This is not only a great camp for teachers, but for students as well. Everyone comes back so excited about choir. Kids who go to camp get GREAT preparation for the opportunities that we offer in Washington Township in the choral departments. I am so thankful to the Washington Township Schools Foundation and just wanted to share that with you. Please consider supporting the Foundation if you can.

Also, I will send information out to you regarding this camp in a future mailing. I have several students and parents who are interested in learning more.
